This featherweight scrap was flying under the radar, but it's now completely off the board. Joanderson Brito was set to face Melsik Baghdasaryan after dropping back to back decisions to Pat Sabatini and William Gomis, tough losses that showed he can be outworked over three rounds. The Brazilian's got that Chute Boxe violence in his blood, and when he's on, he's scary dangerous with finishes by ground and pound, guillotines, and brutal striking. Baghdasaryan was coming off a brutal knockout loss to Jean Silva back in February, got caught with a clean punch and went out cold at 4:15 of the first round. Before that setback, he was putting together some solid wins, including that head kick finish of Collin Anglin and a decision over Tucker Lutz.

What would have made this interesting: Brito's a finisher who's ended fights with everything from ground and pound to guillotines, while Baghdasaryan from Glendale Fighting Club has shown he can bang standing up. The southpaw stance of "The Gun" versus Brito's orthodox pressure could have created some wild exchanges. Brito landed 57 strikes against Gomis and showed he can push a pace, but he's also been submitted and outpointed when guys can slow him down. His most recent loss to Sabatini was particularly rough, getting dominated 30 to 26 on all three scorecards with zero takedowns landed. Both guys needed this one bad.

Brito's trying to snap a two fight skid and prove he can still hang with the division's grapplers and grinders. Baghdasaryan needed to show that Silva knockout was just a bad night and he belongs in the deep end of this division. Instead, the matchup fell apart during fight week, leaving Brito scrambling for a new opponent.
